ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
February 11, 2004

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

With both the WWE Title main event and the 3-way #1 Contender's match looking like potential 30-minute classics, SD! doesn't need a WHOLE lot else to flesh out the No Way Out PPV...  but one would still hope they come up with something more promising that Noble vs. Nidia, right?

You can wait till tomorrow night to find out if they come up with the goods...  or you can read on and check out these TV spoilers, as compiled from e-mail reports (note: we'll just skip the int'l Heat tapings, since we'll all be getting a live pre-PPV, SD-themed edition of Heat on Sunday night).

So here's the report from Washington State:
  • Dark/Velocity Matches: Akio beat Lamont (assumed to be a dark match by two reports, since neither man had back-up -- Sakoda or the Cat -- which you'd expect in a TV match)....  Ultimo Dragon beat Shannon Moore...  Billy Kidman and Paul London beat Nunzio and Johnny Stamboli...  A-Train pinned Billy Gunn...  and Orlando Jordan beat Chuck Palumbo (after the match, the rest of the FBI attacked... hey, maybe this stupid idea of creating a Jordan/Cat/Lamont stable at the expense of Tajiri/Akio/Sakoda is dead, and they'll try it on Velocity against the FBI, instead?).
  • Opening match for SD! is Rey Mysterio beating Tajiri in a good, but short, match.  Chavos Jr. and Sr. tried to interfere, but Rey had that boxer (from 2 weeks ago) in his corner, and was able to get the win, anyway.  After the match, Rey and the boxer guy took out both Chavos.
  • Video Package: the whole Heyman-on-RAW thing with Goldberg and Vince and everything is recapped.
  • Backstage: Lesnar and Heyman are talking about what happened on RAW, and Heyman manages to twist things around so that he convinces Lesnar that when Goldberg speared Heyman, he was symbolically spearing Lesnar.  Or something.  Got Lesnar all hot and bothered, anyway.
  • One of the Bashams (Danny?) beat Scotty 2 Hotty thanks to outside interference from the other one.  When Rikishi put his 2 cents in after the match and the champs tried to get revenge after the match, the Bashams and Shaniqua managed to make a clean get-away.  Apparently, this sets up a NWO PPV match where Scotty and Rikishi will defend the tag titles against the Bashams AND Shaniqua.
  • Backstage: they have dueling interviews.  First, Rey is interviewed about defending the CW Title against Chavo Jr.  Then, Chavo Sr. is shown getting checked by trainers, and he promises to knock out that boxer guy if he shows up at No Way Out.
  • Rhyno got DQ'ed in a match against Bob Holly.  Apparently, nobody told him it was NOT ECW Rules.  Or something.  Anyway, Holly and Rhyno kept brawling after the bell, and had to be pulled apart by a phalanx of officials.
  • Backstage: Kurt Angle was interviewed, and said that he would beat Cena and Show at the PPV and then go on to WrestleMania 20....  and then, after a commercial break, Angle was shown KO'ed in a hallway backstage.  He was taken away in an ambulance, with Eddie Guerrero overseeing the whole thing.  Hmmm..
  • Brock Lesnar came out to the ring for a big promo.  And hilarity ensued.  He had a four peice Mexican band with him, and actually did a little Hat Dance on his way to the ring.  Eddie eventually ran out to put a stop to the disgrace, and he and Lesnar went nose-to-nose.  Lesnar starts out with racial jokes.  But Eddie goes all serious, talking about how it was in Lesnar's hometown of Minneapolis that he bottomed out and got sent to rehab, and how the WWE Title means everything to him because it will show his family and his fans that he's overcome his demons and is once again the man he should have been all along.  He says the WWE Title is his new drug, and he'll do anything to feel that high, so Lesnar better watch out on Sunday.  Strong promo by Eddie.
  • Bradshaw pinned Shelton Benjamin fairly cleanly.  Faarooq and Haas were both involved, but neutralized each other heading to the finish.
  • Backstage: apparently, all signs point to Big Show, John Cena, or Brock Lesnar taking out Kurt Angle.  [Of course, this means it was either (a) Eddie Guerrero, or (b) Angle faking, right?]
  • Jamie Noble and Nidia hit the ring and did a little angle.  Noble started out saying that he wants all the stuff he bought for Nidia back. Nidia came out with a giant shredder/wood chipper and said that there's at least one thing Noble will never get back, as she put her fancy fur coat through the shredder.  As if that didn't piss Noble off enough, Nidia also announced that Paul Heyman has ordered that Noble will have to be blindfolded for their match at the PPV on Sunday.
  • Shameless Self-Promotion: there was an interview with Torrie and Sable that amounted to little more than Playboy hype.  Except for one odd moment in which Torrie and Sable accused Stacy and Jackie of being "jealous" of them... so -- what?  -- this is another cross-promotional match for WM20, I guess...
  • The scheduled main event was Angle/Eddie vs. Lesnar/Big Show... but with Angle out injured, Eddie appeared to be on his own....  until John Cena came on out as the replacement.  Eddie and Cena won the match after a hot finish that saw Angle run out with a steel chair.  Kurt took out both Cena and Big Show, leaving Eddie pretty much one-on-one with Lesnar.  But while the ref was sorting out the mess with Angle, Eddie took Cena's chain and blasted Lesnar for the cheap pinfall win.  Going into the PPV, Eddie's got a pinfall on Lesnar, while Angle got the better of both Cena and Show....

Check out the show tomorrow night, or come on back for a full recap and analysis of the as-aired version of the show here at OO on Friday.
