OO vs. WL: PPV PREDICTIONS WARFARE!
SD! presents Armageddon
December 13, 2004

by PyroFalkon
Independent Auditor for OnlineOnslaught.com and WrestleLine.com

It’s that time again where the minds of Online Onslaught show that while we are indeed much cooler than WrestleLine, we’re also more stupid. Especially me, as it turns out.

As always, there’s a point system assigned to the matches, which was invented by Denny Burkholder over at WrestleLine. This way there’s a bit of unpredictability to every PPV, and it also allows me to determine winners based on two different criteria. Here’s how the points were assigned last night.

RVD/Rey over Kenzo/Rene – 1 point
Kurt Angle over Santa – 2 points (not picked; announced at the PPV)
Puder over Miz – 3 points
Bashams over Haas/Holly – 4 points (not picked; announced at the PPV)
Cena over Jesus – 5 points
Dawn over Jackie – 6 points
Big Show over Team Angle – 7 points
Funaki over Spike – 8 points
JBL over three guys – 9 points

The point and percentage winner overall goes to Jonathan Leung over at WrestleLine, who – damn him – got every pick right out of the 7 we predicted, for a perfect score of 39. The point and percentage winner of Online Onslaught is Rick Scaia, who went 6-1 (.857) and scored 34 points.

Bringing up the rear was… well, me, as usual. I went 2-5 (.286) and scored 4 points. Yeah, I got the first two matches right, but whiffed on the rest. No one on WrestleLine went less than .500.

WrestleLine won both the percentage and the points battle, by going a total of 43-13 (.768) and scoring an average of 26.8 points per writer. Online Onslaught went 44-26 (.629) and scored 19.7 points per writer. Overall we went 87-39 (.690) and scored 23.2 per writer. 18 writers total participated.

Here are the complete standings for Armageddon. Online Onslaught writers are in red, WrestleLine writers are in blue.

By Percentage

1: Jonathan Leung (1.000)
2(t): Denny Burkholder, Downtown Dave Richard, Ken Doucet, Rick Scaia (.857)
6(t): Big Danny T, Canadian Bulldog, Erin Anderson, Jeb Lund, JC Money, Scott Hardie (.714)
12(t): Adam Gutschimdt, Calum Macbeth, Matt Hocking, Ryan Deppa, The Cubs Fan, Zac Hanscom (.571)
18: PyroFalkon (.286)

By Points

1: Jonathan Leung (39)
2(t): Downtown Dave Brown, Rick Scaia (34)
4(t): Denny Burkholder, Ken Doucet (32)
6(t): Erin Anderson, Jeb Lund (25)
8(t): Big Danny T, Canadian Bulldog, JC Money (24)
11: Scott Hardie (23)
12: Matt Hocking (16)
13(t): Adam Gutschimdt, Calum Macbeth, Ryan Deppa, The Cubs Fan, Zac Hanscom (15)
18: PyroFalkon (4)

When I fully take over tabulating all these numbers next year, yearly totals will go here.

What does this teach us? I should never brag about doing well again. I’ve been on a decline since I bragged about being King of the Month forever ago, when I was the percentage leader for the PPV where WrestleLine “forfeited” due to Florida’s creative weather changes.
