OO vs. WL: PPV PREDICTIONS WARFARE!
RAW presents Backlash
May 2, 2005

by PyroFalkon

No opening paragraph this month; I’m half-assing it here today. If you’re reading Online Onslaught, you should be used to that. If you’re reading it on WrestleLine, stop right now and read it at Online Onslaught. Sure, you’ll get the ad box, but a black background is so overrated.

Why am I bitter? Read on.

Here’s how we roll around here. Our contests are based on two criteria: points and percentage. The percentage is pure, with no bonuses or anything. With points, each match is given a certain point value depending on its place on the card; the first match is

worth one point, the second worth two, and so on. I’m also keeping track of how well we do when guessing the main events specifically.

Here’s how the points were distributed at Backlash:

1 point: Shelton Benjamin over Chris Jericho
2 points: Hurricane/Rosey over four other teams (because this was not picked by WrestleLine, it will not count to the scores)
3 points: Edge over Chris Benoit
4 points: Kane over Viscera
5 points: Hogan & HBK over Hassan & Daivari
6 points: Batista over Triple H

A whole mess of writers had a perfect 5-0, 19-point night. Adam Gutschmidt, Big Danny T , Canadian Bulldog, Jeb Lund, and The Cubs Fan all represented OO fantastically. WrestleLine’s heroes were Downtown Dave Richard, Ryan Deppa, and Scott Hardie. As great as those eight were, every single one of us nailed the main event. Way to give us unpredictability, WWE!

On the low end of the totem pole was… me? Oh, for the love of Mike. Profanity, yelling, swearing, etc. I went 2-3, although OO’s Erin Anderson was low scorer of the night, only getting 10 points.

We brought down our team’s numbers, which lead to our loss. Yes, tragically, WL has broken the tie by taking the win, scoring 33-7 (.825) and 17.1 PPW. OO went 44-11 (.800) and 15.5 PPW. Overall, we all went 77-18 (.811) and 16.3 PPW. 19 writers participated.

Here’s the full 411 on Backlash and our numbers for our year-to-date.
