OO vs. WL: PPV PREDICTIONS WARFARE!
SD! presents Armageddon...
And Year-End Tallies!
December 19, 2005

by PyroFalkon
Independent Auditor for OnlineOnslaught.com and WrestleLine.com

It’s taken a whole year, but the our season of PPV predictions is over! Like the PGA, we’ll be starting up again within like four days, but so be it, we’re wrestling journalists, and we’re proud of it!!!

…Yeah right. Hasn’t this been a really bad year for wrestling? I mean, putting aside the death of Eddie; even wrestling-wise, this has been nasty. Can you think of one moment from any PPV you washed this year clearly? I can think of about two, and both came from ECW One Night Stand. How sad is that?

But fuck it. Our game keeps me going… even if I keep heading on down. FULL stats are below for both websites, so you’ll see who’s the top dog, and who’s the Bulldog, of each website.

Our contests are based on two criteria: points and percentage. The percentage is pure, with no bonuses or anything. With points, each match is given a certain point value depending on its place on the card; the first match is worth one point, the second worth two, and so on. I’m also keeping track of how well we do when guessing the main events specifically. DQs, countouts, and interference are all irrelevant; all that matters is who the writer picked to win, and whether he did.

The points were distributed at Armageddon as follows…

1 point: JBL over Matt Hardy
2 points:
MNM over Super Crazy & Psicosis
3 points:
Chris Benoit over Booker T
4 points:
Lashley over William Regal [not picked; match announced at the PPV]
5 points:
Kid Kash over Juventud Guerrera
6 points:
Big Show & Kane over Batista & Rey Mysterio
7 points:
Undertaker over Randy Orton

The winner for Armageddon was Matt Hocking, who went 5-1 and scored 21 points. His only whiff was the brand match, as he picked SmackDown! to go over RAW.

Coming up last was… oh, this can’t be right… Me and Bulldog? Numbers don’t like… we both went 3-3 with 6 points. Rick and Erin also went 3-3, but they each scored 9 points. Oh well… if I’m going down, at least I’m taking him with me. Long live birds, down with canines, or something.

OO went a combined 33-21 (.611) and 12.3 points per writer. Eight or nine writers participated, depending on how you count Rick and “Erin.” This is about the average. What a thrilling way to end the season.

Okay, here’s the breakdown of stats for the Armageddon only…

Armageddon Percentage

1: Matt Hocking (.833)
2(t): Adam Gutschmidt, Big Danny T, Jeb Lund, The Cubs Fan (.667)
6(t): Canadian Bulldog, Erick Scanderson, PyroFalkon (.500)

Armageddon Points (out of 24)

1: The Cubs Fan (21)
2: Matt Hocking (18)
3: Jeb Lund (16)
4(t): Adam Gutschmidt, Big Danny T (13)
6: Ricrin Anderia (9)
7(t): Canadian Bulldog, PyroFalkon (6)

Okay, time for the yearly stats. Our winner for percentage in 2005 is…

MATT HOCKING!!!

For his victory, he will receive absolutely nothing, and no cash prize. Because that’s how we roll… (Did I mention the yearly OO Pledge Drive?) It was an absolutely thrilling win. Literally only ONE PICK separated him from second place. Let’s not talk about who was in last.

Our winner for points in 2005 is…

ADAM GUTSCHMIDT!!!

He doesn’t get anything either. We’re cheap bastards, I tell you. Let’s not talk about who in last.

Because our sister site, WrestleLine, went on hiatus and didn’t play for the last half of the year, I won’t combine the stats for the year. Instead, I’ll list our sites separately.

Okay, here are the yearly, FULL stats.
